§ Mr. Strawasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will list in the Official Report the names of all persons appointed since 4 May 1979 as special, political or policy advisers to the Prime Minister and Ministers, or who have been appointed on condition that their employment cannot extend beyond the life of the present Administration, and in each case the Minister to whom such persons are responsible, their titles and brief functions, whether their salaries are paid from public funds, and the total salary bill for those so paid.
§ Mr. ChannonThe following information covers current appointments made personally by Ministers of advisers to them within the Government machine. It does not cover all advisers to Minister—for example, career civil servants; others whose professional advice is obtained by Departments on a consultancy basis; party personnel not in Departments.
Political advisers not paid from public funds are:
