HC Deb 05 February 1980 vol 978 c107W
Mr. Kenneth Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what instructions he has given his Department on the numbers permitted to attend public visits or other functions paid for by his Department; and whether he has sought reduction in the cost of such official visits.

Mr. Whitelaw

Recent instructions to senior management in the Home Office have reaffirmed the need to limit the numbers of those attending meetings, and outside functions to essential participants. Standing instructions to all staff require strict economy to be practised in expenditure on official travel.
