§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Secretary of State for Trade if, in accordance with the Government's economic policies, he will bring forward proposals under which the cost of the Government's services to exports and to tourism would be paid for by the beneficiaries instead of by the public at large.
§ Mr. ParkinsonIn accordance with Government policy, I am reviewing my Department's export services and the charges for them. I am taking the advice of the British Overseas Trade Board and Sir Derek Rayner. The aim is to ensure that the resources allocated are well used.
The Government have no plans to reduce assistance from public funds to 58W the promotion of tourism beyond the cuts already announced.
