§ Mr. David MitchellGovernment Departments have completed their reviews of their own regular statistical inquiries involving small firms—defined, for the purpose of the review, as those with fewer than 200 employees. Apart from the Department of Employment's annual census of employment, which is being reviewed separately, small firms were included in 241 such surveys, involving the annual despatch of just over 1½ million forms to small firms.
As a result of decisions taken in the review, 15 surveys will be discontinued, small firms will be eliminated from the coverage of a further five, and the number of forms sent annually to small firms
