Such a passport describes the national status of the holder as "British Subject" (which is synonymous with "Commonwealth Citizen"). This does not confer the status of citizenship of the United Kingdom and Colonies (which is the status of a person born in the United Kingdom) on the holder, nor does it give him the same immigration rights as such a citizen.
