HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 cc324-5W
Mr. Field

asked the Lord Privy Seal whether the British Government intend to participate in the consortium meeting on aid to Nicaragua to be held in Stockholm in March 1981 in line with the majority of the United Kingdom European partners, Scandinavian countries and Canada; and if he proposes to announce at this meeting a date for reopening the British diplomatic mission in Managua.

Mr. Ridley

If an invitation is received from the UNDP organising this meeting we shall send an observer. The possible re-opening of a mission in Managua is under consideration in the light of economies to which we are committed, and continuing pressure on public expenditure. No decision has yet been taken.
