HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 c388W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy when he expects the electricity boards will report to him on whether they are in a position to provide greater flexibility in charges for large Continental users of electricity and the practicality of doing so in view of the price of coal.

Mr. Norman Lamont

Area electricity boards have been asked and have agreed to take an active role in ensuring that their industrial customers obtain the maximum possible benefit from the flexibility available in existing electricity tariffs. These are designed to reflect as closely as possible the costs of supplying different categories of consumer at any given level of input costs, including coal.
