HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 cc338-40W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many advance factories are now available for occupation; what are the sizes, locations and costs of each factory; what the Government's policy is for the next two years regarding advance factories; and what plans are in hand to build advance factories.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The following 49 factories owned by the Department of Commerce for Northern Ireland are ready for immediate occupation. Most of these have been built in advance of demand and have never been occupied. The cost shown in each case is the historic building cost (estimated where final figures are not readily available) excluding site. Where an older factory has been refurbished to modern standards the cost of refurbishment is separately identified. The need for further new building will be kept under strict review by the Department of Commerce in the light of demand for factory space and the availability of funds.
