HL Deb 18 December 1980 vol 415 c1277WA
Lord Vaisey

asked the Leader of the House:

Whether he would indicate to Ministers giving replies to Written Questions on Home Affairs that it would be for the convenience of the House if simple figures were given, rather than complicated references to publications possibly available in the Library.

The Lord President of the Council (Lord Soames)

For reasons of economy it is not the normal practice to include in Answers to Parliamentary Questions detailed statistics available from published sources. If, however, any noble Lord has difficulty in obtaining public information referred to in an Answer, I will ensure that it is sent to him. I will also ensure that Ministers take note of the noble Lord's Question.
