HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 cc284-5W
Mr. Brotherton

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will list in the Official Report those items of Government expenditure which were under consideration for cutting in his recent review but which were not included in his statement on 24 November; and if he will give reasons for their exclusion.

Mr. Biffen

The Government considered a wide range of options for increases and reductions in expenditure programmes during the recent annual review, as is normal in the course of public expenditure surveys. Policy decisions taken in that review were announced in the 24 November statement. It is not the practice to announce expenditure options not adopted by the Government.
