§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the number of peers of the realm who hold paid appointments for which his Department accepts responsibility for either the appointment or payment of the salary or expenses received by these office holders.
§ Mr. Peter ReesPayment of salaries from the Consolidated Fund, which is administered by my Department, are made to 22 peers of the realm. There are 10 other peers of the realm who were either appointed by me or receive payment of salary from the Treasury Vote or both.
