§ Mr. Brothertonasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what steps he intends to take to inform local authorities of examples of the successful privatisation of hitherto publicly provided services.
§ Mr. KingWe are giving local government information about Departments' experience of contracting out relevant services and about overseas practice; and we shall publish the results of current research studies of the scope for contracting out in local government. Meantime, we hope that both local authorities and appropriate private firms will pursue these possibilities further.
