HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c243W
Q47. Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Prime Minister what assurances she has given since the Dublin meeting to those concerned for the continuance of Northern Ireland as an integral part of the United Kingdom; and if she will place copies of any relevant documents in the Library.

The Prime Minister

I refer my hon. Friend to my answer to a supplementary question from my hon. Friend the Member for Horsham and Crawley (Mr. Hordern) on 16 December, and to my letter of 10 December to the hon. Member for Antrim, North (Rev. Ian Paisley), the text of which has been published, in which I emphasised that Northern Ireland was part of the United Kingdom and would remain so unless its people and the Westminster Parliament decided otherwise. I have written similarly to the hon. Member for Antrim, South (Mr. Molyneaux). The joint communiqué issued after the meeting in Dublin on 8 December has been placed in the Library.
