HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c245W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Prime Minister whether any of the institutional arrangements envisaged at the Dublin conference with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland include something on the lines of the once proposed Council of Ireland.

The Prime Minister

No. The Council of Ireland was an institution linking Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. At my meeting with the Taoiseach on 8 December we agreed to study ways of developing the unique relationship between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Prime Minister what was the cost to public funds of the recent Dublin conference with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland.

The Prime Minister

The cost to public funds of this conference was £4,100.
