HL Deb 17 December 1980 vol 415 c1194WA
The Lord Bishop of Rochester

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have any plans to make it possible for those proceeding westward along the long-awaited M26 to be able to turn off at Sevenoaks towards London or the coast, as it had been widely expected that drivers would have been able to do.

The Earl of Avon

There are no plans to provide such connections at the Sevenoaks interchange because the cost would not be justified by the low level of traffic that would be expected to use them. My right honourable friend the Minister of Transport is, however, considering the possibility of providing connections between the M26 and A225, some two and a half miles east of the Sevenoaks interchange. He intends to make an announcement as soon as possible.
