asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in the review of the domestic rating system; and if he will make a statement.

32. Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the activities of his Department's working group on the reform of the rating system.

Mr. King

We are currently examining potential alternatives to the domestic rating system.

There are of course major issues involved, and it is not yet possible to indicate when we shall be able to make a further statement.
