HC Deb 17 December 1980 vol 996 c185W
26. Mr. Silvester

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what proposals he has to assist the restoration of the sewer system in the city of Manchester.

Mr. Fox

The restoration of the sewer system in the City of Manchester is the responsibility of the North-West water authority and its agent Manchester city council. The buried asset dereliction problem of North-West water authority is recognised and, so far as it is possible within the total sum available for distribution among the nine English water authorities, is taken into consideration when capital allocations are decided.
