HC Deb 17 December 1980 vol 996 c202W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he has now considered the detailed recommendations of the report commissioned from his Department as part of the review of Government statistical services being conducted under the guidance of Sir Derek Rayner; and when he expects to be able to make a statement on the recommendations.

Mr. Patrick Jenkin

The draft report of the study team which has been reviewing the statistical work in the Department of Health and Social Security, as part of the wider review being conducted under the guidance of Sir Derek Rayner, contains a large number of recommendations. The recommendations require very careful consideration, and in many cases extensive consultation, before final decisions are taken. This work is being progressed as fast as possible. I am not yet in a position to make a statement.
