HC Deb 17 December 1980 vol 996 c222W
Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what would be the cost today of a dog licence if it had kept pace with inflation since it was first introduced in 1867 at the price of 5s.

Mr. Wiggin

I have been asked to reply.

I am advised by the Central Statistical Office that, in terms of purchasing power, the corresponding amount today might lie in the range of £5–£6.
