§ Mr. Teddy Taylorasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress he has made in resolving the areas to be covered by enterprise zones; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. KingThe proposed boundaries for the Salford/Trafford enterprise zone are being considered by the councils: and I hope that the statutory processes leading to designation will begin very soon. Discussions are continuing with the local authorities concerned with the other enterprise zones proposed in England (Newcastle/Gateshead, Speke, Dudley and Corby): in these areas the statutory procedures should begin early in the new year. The shadow London Docklands Development Corporation is preparing proposals for the Isle of Dogs zone.
I hope to announce in the new year the location of a further enterprise zone in the North of England.
