asked the Secretary of State for Energy what assessment he has made of the saving in terms of energy if mail at present transported by road were transported by rail.

[pursuant to his reply, 11 December 1980]: Such estimates are a matter for the managemment of the Post Office, but I understand that the Post Office uses rail conveyance wherever practicable, and that about 70 per cent. is transported by rail for some part of its journey.
