§ Mr. Bill Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to create skill training posts or apprenticeships in Scotland through the youth opportunities programme in Government workshops and depots.
§ Mr. Alexander FletcherA number of Government depots in Scotland are currently operating schemes under the youth opportunities programme and it is hoped that this provision can be extended in 1981–82. The Manpower Services Commission is to increase the emphasis under the programme on providing good quality training for work although the programme does not provide or support apprenticeship training.
