§ Mrs. ChalkerThe change which was announced in Cmnd. 7773, and which was reiterated recently to careers officers in the Department of Employment's careers service circular No. 423 dated 26 September 1980, was proposed in "Social Assistance" which was published in 1978 and was the subject of widespread consultation. The change is expected to produce a net saving of £4 million a year.
