§ Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Industry if he has now received a report from the chairman of the British Steel Corporation concerning reorganisation plans; if so, what action he now proposes; and if he will make a statement.
§ Sir Keith JosephI expect to receive the BSC corporate plan tomorrow—12 December—and to have an initial discussion with Mr. MacGregor on Wednesday 17 December. The Government will then examine the plan in detail. This will take several weeks and I do not expect to announce the Government's response to the corporate plan or decisions on financing the BSC for the remainder of 1980–81 and for 1981–82, until about the end of January.
