HC Deb 09 December 1980 vol 995 cc309-10W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Attorney-General if he will seek to amend the law to ensure that when documents have already been read out in open court it is not open to parties to pursue an action for contempt when the texts of such documents are transmitted to third parties.

The Attorney-General

Notice of appeal has now been given in the case in which this issue, which is not correctly identified by the question, arose. In these circumstances it is not appropriate to consider whether or to what extent any change in the law would be desirable.
