§ Mr. Bill Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will give details of air misses recorded over Scotland in the five years ended July 1980
§ Mr. TebbitThe collection of air-miss data is the responsibility of the CAA, which publishes statistics covering the whole of the United Kingdom in its annual reports. The authority informs me that the number of air misses involving civil aircraft which occurred over the mainland of Scotland, including the Western Isles, in the period 1 August 1975 to 31 July 1980 was 93. Because of the difficulty in determining the precise location of air misses any which occurred over water up to 5nm from the coast are included in this figure.
