HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 cc254-5W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much of the £48 million granted by Her Majesty's Government to the area in South Wales affected by the steel rundown has been spent so far; how much was spent in the financial year 1980–81; and how much will be spent in the financial year 1981–1982.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

Expenditure so far amounts to £7.3 million out of the total provision of £24.8 million for the financial year 1980–81. The total spent in 1980–81 can be ascertained only after the end of the financial year.

It is expected that the £22.9 million allocated to 1981–82 will be fully spent. All figures quoted are at 1980 survey prices.
