HL Deb 04 December 1980 vol 415 c576WA
Lord Balerno

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many children aged 11–16 years were absent from school in Edinburgh, in Glasgow and in Aberdeen, respectively, on any one day in 1980 and on the same date in 1979 and 1978; and of this number, how many children appeared before the Children's Panel in each successive year.

The Minister of State, Scottish Office (The Earl of Mansfield)

The incidence of absence from school is primarily a matter for individual education authorities and the information is not available centrally.
