HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 c261W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what representations he has had from the Greater Manchester Association of Metropolitan Authorities about the proposal to establish a hypermarket in the Salford-Trafford enterprise zone; what reply he has sent; what action he is taking; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. King

The Greater Manchester Association of Metropolitan Authorities has written to my right hon. Friend. We have told the association that we are considering including a requirement for large scale retail development in the Salford-Trafford enterprise zone to be the subject of individual planning applications.
