HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 c156W
Q17. Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Prime Minister if, in view of the fact that Stockport council is unable to consider applications from constituents of the hon. Member for Stockport, North for home insulation grants before April 1981 as a result of Government policy, she will ensure that the necessary changes in policy are made so that sufficient public money is in future available to local authorities for these purposes.

The Prime Minister

Allocation of resources to the homes insulation scheme necessarily reflects the Government's continuing policy to constrain public expenditure, but I understand Stockport MB still has ample money to make grants up to 90 per cent., with a maximum of £90, towards the cost of loft insulation by those in special need, namely, the elderly on low incomes.
