HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 c176W
24. Mr. Pollock

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when he will next meet the chairman of the Forestry Commission to discuss the long-term future of forestry in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

My right hon. Friend has no plans to do so. Ministers responsible for forestry meet the chairman of the Forestry Commission from time to time. They last did so on 20 November.

33. Mr. van Straubenzee

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how he intends to encourage increased afforestation in England and Wales.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Afforestation in England and Wales, and in Scotland, is a matter which my right hon. Friends have under consideration in our review of forestry policy. We hope to make an announcement soon.
