HL Deb 04 December 1980 vol 415 cc577-8WA
Lord Melchett

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will give details of the species listed in either Appendix I or Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and passing through the United Kingdom under the Customs transit procedures, that have been released from the Customs area of the port of entry and that did not then proceed directly to another port for exit purposes, but were kept for a period of time at some other premises in the United Kingdom, and whether they will list the species and numbers involved in each year since the Endangered Species Act 1976 became law.

Lord Cockfield

I regret that this information is not available because separate statistics are not compiled for goods in transit through the United Kingdom.
