HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 cc177-8W
31. Sir Walter Clegg

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on current negotiations about a common fisheries policy.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave earlier today to my hon. Friend the Member for Fife, East (Mr. Henderson).

52. Sir Anthony Meyer

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether it remains his objective to negotiate a common fisheries policy within the European Economic Community which will reconcile the long and short-term interests of inshore and deepsea fishermen.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The Government continue to seek a fair settlement of the revised common fisheries policy which adequately takes account of the needs of all sectors of the United Kingdom fishing industry.
