HC Deb 02 December 1980 vol 995 c137W
Mr. Pendry

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what action, if any, has been taken to require the Northern Ireland Housing Executive to ensure that families with infants living in statutorily unfit homes are rehoused as a matter of priority.

Mr. Goodhart

[pursuant to his reply, 27 November 1980, c. 226]: The attention of the Northern Ireland Housing Executive has been drawn to the recommendations of the advisory committee on infant mortality and handicap in Northern Ireland as they relate to housing families with infants living in accommodation which is statutorily unfit, and its comments have been sought.

The Housing Executive's housing selection scheme, which has been approved by the Department of Environment for Northern. Ireland, already gives a high priority to persons living in unfit accommodation.
