HC Deb 02 December 1980 vol 995 c115W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received regarding the proposals to fund students' unions within institutions for which his Department is responsible as from 1981–82.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

Letters have been received from two hon. Members and from the STUC. Also, in response to a consultative letter sent by my Department to interested bodies on 1 February describing the changes then proposed in student union financing, views were received from the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities, the National Union of Students, six central institutions and eight colleges of education, and one students' association. The National Union of Students wrote to the Department again on 29 October.
