§ Mr. HayhoeIt is not possible to provide the information requested as defence expenditure is not accounted for on a regional basis. However, payments made directly to contractors in Scotland have amounted to just under five per cent. of defence equipment expenditure over the past four years; but that takes no account of 113W payments made to contractors' head offices in England for work carried out in their Scottish divisions or factories, nor of work subcontracted by main contractors to firm; or factories in Scotland. Earlier figures are not available.
