HL Deb 02 December 1980 vol 415 c387WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Under what liability rules is compensation calculated in relation to divers and others who are accidently killed or suffer physical or other damage in the course of operations or otherwise on or about offshore installations.

The Earl of Cowrie

Compensation for divers and others accidently killed or injured offshore would fall to be determined in each individual case by the courts. Employers must maintain insurance of £2 million in respect of claims relating to any one or more of his employees arising out of any one occurrence by virtue of the Offshore Installations (Application of the Employers (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969) Regulations 1975.
