HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 cc497-8W
Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what reply he has sent to the letter dated 31 July sent to him by Boothferry borough council about local authority current expenditure 1980–81.

Mr. King

The Department will reply to the chief executive of the council as soon as possible.

3,369 are currently under negotiation. Together these represent 8 per cent. of new town tenancies. Figures for individual towns are shown in the table below.

My answer of 4 June—[Vol. 985, c. 1406.]—set out the somewhat higher numbers than reported as sold and under negotiation. The figures have now been reviewed to eliminate any cases where buyers have dropped out since they declared an interest, to ensure a common definition of being under negotiation, and to eliminate any completed sales from the numbers under negotiation.
