HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 c441W
Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary art State for Northern Ireland if he is in a position to state the outcome of his review of the present rules governing disclosure of information about financial assistance to industry in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Giles Shaw

Yes. My right hon. Friend and I have decided that information about payments of standard capital Grants (which are similar to regional development grants in Great Britain) should be published. We have also decided in principle that information on selective financial assistance provided to individual companies towards the creation of new jobs under the Northern Ireland Industries Development Acts should be published.

Detailed arrangements will be announced in due course, but it is our intention that the information to be published should correspond as nearly as possible to what is at present published on regional aids in Great Britain.

This new policy will apply to future payments of standard capital grants and future commitments of selective financial assistance but not to those which have already been made.
