HC Deb 06 August 1980 vol 990 cc133-4W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether, further to his written answer to the hon. Member for Warley, East Official Report, 28 July, c. 482, and bearing in mind that there has been no improvement during the past year in the time lag of over 12 months in the publication of the report of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art, which gives Parliament and the public a general conspectus of the functioning of this committee, he will reconsider the adoption of the time scale suggested by the hon. Member for Warley, East on 26 July and 19 December 1979.

Mr. St. John-Stevas

Yes. I accept the desirability of adopting the time scale suggested by the hon. Member. The reviewing committee completed its report for the year ending 30 June 1979 within nine months of the end of that year. This represents a considerable improvement on previous years and I hope that this improvement will continue. As I explained to the hon. Member in my reply on 28 July—[Vol. 989, c. 482.)—I am still considering the committee's report for 1978–79.
