asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what consultations took place, on what date and with whom, before he made his decision to announce his intention to seek legislation to remove the executive functions of the Sports Council for Northern Ireland.

The "Report on Non-Departmental Public Bodies" (Cmnd. 7797) published in January 1980 indicated that the Sports Council for Northern Ireland was under review. This review, in common with reviews of other bodies, was carried out within Government.
