HC Deb 06 August 1980 vol 990 cc148-9W
Mr. Viggers

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give the latest figure for the number of pre–1950 widows who have now been allocated pensions, together with the number of applications which are currently outstanding, and the total cost per annum of the pensions which have so far been granted.

Mr. Speed

At 28 July 1980, 13,694 special widows' pensions had been awarded at a current annual cost of £4.7 million. A further 4,550 applications were still under consideration.
