asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many applications for attendance allowance and mobility allowance from people resident in Scotland have been made, and how many have been rejected, in the first three months of 1980; and what were the figures for the same period in 1979.

The information available is shown in the table below. The number of claims for mobility allowance is not known. The number of decisions—which includes rejections—for each quarter is therefore given to enable a comparison to be made. Because of the time lapse, decisions and rejections do not necessarily relate to the claims made in the same quarter.
