HC Deb 06 August 1980 vol 990 c99W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if, in the light of further likely increases in the aviation security levy, he will consider restoring responsibility for airport security to individual airlines or alternatively to private security companies; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Tebbit

No. I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave him on 28 January 1980.—[Vol. 977, c.527]. So far as any increase in the aviation security fund levy rate is concerned, I refer him to my reply today to my hon. Friend the Member for Reading, North (Mr. Durant).

Mr. Durant

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether any estimate has been made as to the likely rate of the aviation security levy rate for 1981–82.

Mr. Tebbit

It is too early to give any firm prediction, but I would not expect the increase in the aviation security levy rate for 1981–82 to be greater than the year-on-year rate of inflation.
