HL Deb 05 August 1980 vol 412 cc1476-8WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the continuing need for the Commission for Racial Equality and what is its annual cost to the Exchequer.

Lord BELSTEAD

The Government see a continuing role for the Commission in working towards the elimination of racial discrimination and in promoting equality of opportunity and good race relations. The cost of the Commission to public funds in the present financial year will not be known until the end of that year, but the provision made in the Supply Estimates is £7.036 million at out-turn prices.

House adjourned at a quarter before ten o'clock.
