§ Mr. Michael MarshallManufacturing output is determined by demand for our goods and not by State intervention. The fall in output partly reflects the effect of the steel strike, but the main cause is our continuing poor level of international competitiveness. The Government will continue to tackle our underlying problems of inflation and supply side deficiencies.
