HL Deb 30 April 1980 vol 408 c1382WA
Lord AVEBURY

to ask Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in the light of Lord Belstead's answer on 16th April (col. 399), the statement contained in a letter from Mr. Timothy Raison, Minister of State for Home Affairs, dated 7th March 1980 that "Immigration Officers are instructed to notify a passenger of his right to contact UKIAS or UNHCR on refusal of their application and before their removal", is still Government policy.

Lord BELSTEAD

I regret that my honourable friend's letter may have given rise to a misunderstanding. My honourable friend is writing to the noble Lord.
