Dr. McDonald

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the National Health Service abortion rate per 100 live births in each of the English and Welsh hospital regions and in Scotland and in Great Britain as a whole for each of the years 1978 and 1979.

The abortion rates per 100 live births in NHS hospitals in each of the English and Welsh hospital regions and in Scotland and in Great Britain for 1978 are shown below.

Figures are also shown for England and Wales, Scotland and Great Britain for 1979, but the data for hospital regions are not yet available.
