HC Deb 21 April 1980 vol 983 cc26-7W
Mrs. Renée Short

asked the Secretary of State for Trade (1) if he will make a statement about the report of the European Commission into the dumping of cross-ply and fabric-braced radial car tyres on the EEC market;

(2) what undertakings have been given by the East European manufacturers on the prices of cross-ply and fabric-braced radial car tyres imported into the United Kingdom; and if he is satisfied that these are sufficient.

Mr. Parkinson

The Commission has completed its investigation in this case and has established that there was dumping and that material injury was being caused to the Community industry. The exporters concerned have offered price undertakings and these are still being considered by the Commission, with the object of ensuring that the undertakings effectively deal with the problem.
