§ Mr. Michael Brownasked the Lord Privy Seal what are the proposed reductions in the number of civil servants employed in his Department; and what reductions so far have been carried out.
§ Mr. HurdThe proposed reductions are United Kingdom-based staff savings of 425 in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Diplomatic Service, and 235 in the Overseas Development Administration. There will be additional savings under the recently announced 2½ per cent. reduction in manpower costs.
Between 1 May 1979 and 1 April 1980, the number of staff fell by 313.
